This ripe banana and mixed berry breast cancer-fighting smoothie is packed with antioxidants for overall health and anti-cancer benefits.

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. It is a time to honor those who have been affected by the disease, and to increase awareness about breast cancer and how to fight it.

Let’s take a closer look at the ingredients in this ripe banana and mixed berry breast cancer-fighting smoothie.

Bananas:

They are packed with antioxidants. The riper they are, the more antioxidant rich they are. Antioxidants are known for their anti-cancer properties.

Berries:

The American Institute for Cancer Research shows that they contain many phytochemicals, nutrients, and dietary fiber – all of which helps prevent cancer.

Directions:

Process the following ingredients in a blender:

• 1 cup of almond milk
• 2 cups of frozen berries
• 1 very ripe banana

Make sure ingredients are organic
