Healthy turmeric and avocado deviled eggs

We have seen how healthy eggs can be. Normally when you think of deviled eggs though, you don’t really think of health. This healthy turmeric and avocado deviled eggs uses nutritious ingredients rather than mayonnaise, so you don’t have to feel bad about eating them.

Let’s take a closer look at the ingredients in this healthy turmeric and avocado deviled eggs recipe.

Avocados:
They are an excellent source of omega-3 fatty acids, and other healthy fats that are great for the heart. Avocados are also packed with antioxidants that have anti-inflammatory properties.

Eggs:
Eggs are excellent sources of protein, which is essential for muscle health and weight loss. They are also high in healthy fats if you get organic and cage-free eggs.

Turmeric:
The superspice has antiviral, antibacterial, and antimicrobial properties, and has shown benefits in the area of breast cancer prevention, cold and flu, heart health, and Alzheimer’s.

Directions:

1Bring water to boil in a medium pot, bring to a simmer, place 3 eggs in the pot and simmer on medium-high heat for 5 to 6 minutes.

 

2Drain water and place eggs in a bowl of ice water so they stop cooking. Remove eggs from ice bath after 3minutes and let them sit at room temperature for an hour before peeling.

 

3After peeling, slice eggs in half lengthwise. Remove yolks and set to the side. Add the egg yolks, 1 avocado peeled and sliced, 1/2 tsp of ground mustard, 1/4 tsp of turmeric to a blender and process until slighty chunky like a guacamole.

 

4Scoop equal amounts of guacamole into each egg white half. Sprinkle with salt, pepper and turmeric to taste.
