Frozen food company Amy’s Kitchen is starting an organic drive thru

Amy’s Kitchen is a company known for its high quality, organic frozen foods. Their frozen meals can be found in grocery stores and supermarkets all across the country. The company wishes to expand and become more than just a frozen food company.

In late June, Amy’s Kitchen is starting an organic drive thru.

Everybody said we couldn’t do it,” says Andy Berliner, co-founder of the company. Cooking entirely vegetarian foods like burgers, pizzas, and tortillas with the convenience and quickness of a drive thru can be a challenge. “But we set up a test kitchen in our warehouse space and we did it. We learned how to do it from scratch very quickly.”

Amy’s Kitchen sources ingredients for their frozen foods from organic farmers, and will continue to do so with their restaurants. The drive thru will include dairy-free and gluten-free options, and the pizza can be ordered with a rice or wheat crust.

Amy’s Kitchen has 50 people dedicated to work with farmers to source all ingredients, sometimes up to 18 months in advance. “The weather doesn’t always cooperate, so one of the most challenging parts of our business right now is the agricultural end,” Berliner says.

Since every meal will be hand made to order, the prices will reflect the manual labor required. Burgers will cost $2.99 (double burgers will be $4.29), cheese pizzas will go for $5.89, burritos will be $4.69, and salads will range from $3.99 to $7.99.

Amy’s Kitchen is excited to provide consumers with healthier, unprocessed fast food options. “Consumers of all ages, but particularly millennials, are aware that what they eat affects their health, their wellbeing and how they feel,” Berliner says. “We’ve just reached a tipping point in a whole new level of interest in eating better.”
