Lose weight:
This is huge for lowering blood pressure. Many doctors have noticed that losing a good chunk of weight can automatically lower your blood pressure. Make sure you eat plenty of fruits and vegetables and cut out sugar, saturated fats, and processed foods.

Eat fruits and vegetables:
Fruits and veggies are high in potassium, which may help lower blood pressure. A recent study from University of Southern California found that potassium intake was linked to lower blood pressure. Some foods high in potassium are bananas, spinach, sweet potatoes, Swiss chard, beets, and squash.

Eat more omega-3s:
Eating foods that are rich in omega-3 fatty acids may help lower blood pressure, according to a study from the American Heart Association. Some foods rich in omega-3s are walnuts, spinach, salmon, chia seeds and flaxseeds.

Reduce sodium:
Excess sodium reduces the ability of your kidneys to remove extra water in your body. Because of this, the extra fluid buildup puts strain on blood vessels and increases blood pressure.

Reduce alcohol:
Alcohol abuse causes a lot of health problems including high blood pressure. Not only does alcohol increase blood pressure, but it can reduce the efficacy of blood pressure medications. Try not to pass the limit of one drink per day.

Quit smoking:
Smoking is one of the worst things you can do to your body and affects almost every area of your health. Smoking increases blood pressure and is a major risk factor for many diseases including heart disease.
