 Winter Infection Tea Recipe

When the weather gets colder, the chances of catching a cold or the flu become higher.

Drinking plenty of fluids and dding immune boosting foods and spices to your diet can go a long way to killing or preventing infections.

Cinnamon:

  • It is armed with antiviral, antibacterial, and antifungal properties. It boosts the immune system, and fights germs and pathogens that cause colds and flu. It is a key spice for cold and flu season.

Cloves:

  • They are champions when it comes to antioxidants capacity and  have 36 different ingredients, the most important being an essential oil called eugenol. Cloves also contain a variety of flavonoids which contribute to clove’s anti-inflammatory and antiviral properties.

Raw honey:

  • A 2007 study showed that honey may help relieve coughs and trouble sleeping.  A single dose of buckwheat honey was just as effective as a single dose of dextromethorphan in relieving nocturnal cough. Raw honey has antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal properties, which help fuel the immune system.

Turmeric: 

  •  It is often referred to as a superstar spice or the “Indian solid gold.” It has anti-inflammatory properties, which help relieve congestion, and it has antiviral and antibacterial properties, which aid in clearing infections and viruses.

Directions:

  • Simmer a stick of cinnamon and 2 cloves in a cup of water for fifteen minutes
  • Add 1 tbsp of raw honey and 1/4 tsp of turmeric
  • This tea will help fight cold and flu and winter infections.
