If an avocado is not eaten all at once, it can be hard to keep fresh, as they brown easily when exposed to oxygen.

Leaving avocados in the fridge typically keeps them fresh for about two weeks. Make sure to keep the pit in the half of the avocado that you are not going to use. Store unused avocado halves in plastic bags, removing as much air as possible.

Olive oil:
Use a brush to paint a thin layer of olive oil on the avocado half. This helps prevent oxidation, which causes browning. This method can also help with guacamole, by simply spreading a layer on top of the dip.

Onions can help keep avocados fresh. Place about a handful of onion pieces in a container. Then, place the avocado in the container on top of the onions face up. Onions can also be sprinkled on top of guacamole to keep it fresh.
