Heart health avocado smoothie

This is a delicious heart health avocado smoothie. It is packed with heart healthy fats like omega-3 fatty acids. Omega-3s decrease the risk of abnormal heart rhythm, decrease triglyceride levels, lower blood pressure, and prevent inflammation of blood vessels that causes blood clots.

Let’s take a look at the ingredients in this heart health avocado smoothie:

Almond milk:
Almonds are excellent sources of calcium, vitamin E, folic acid, omega-3 fatty acids and fiber. They are natural powerhouses and have shown benefits in lowering cholesterol, brain health, heart health, weight loss, and more. Studies show almonds reduce the risk of heart disease. Almond milk is the perfect base for this heart health avocado smoothie.

Avocados:
As the main ingredient in this heart health avocado smoothie, they are an excellent source of omega-3 fatty acids, and other healthy fats that are great for the heart. Avocados are also packed with antioxidants that have anti-inflammatory properties.

Bananas:
They are an excellent source of potassium. Mark Houston, MD, MS, an associate clinical professor of medicine at Vanderbilt Medical School and director of the Hypertension Institute at St Thomas Hospital in Tennessee, says “if individuals increased their potassium intake to recommended levels, hypertension among adults could be reduced by 10%, adding that he even advocates for getting 5,000 mg/day.” Bananas make the perfect sweet addition to this heart health avocado smoothie.

Process the following ingredients in a blender:

1 banana
1/2 an avocado
1 tsp of raw honey
1/2 cup of almond milk
