Clinton Foundation honors Leonardo DiCaprio

  • With this in mind, we are happy to share that Media outlet Politico reports that the Clintons will honor Leonardo DiCaprio in late September 2014 for his outstanding environmental work, the Clinton Global Initiative announced.
  • Along with DiCaprio, there will be other honorees at the annual Clinton Foundation meeting, including the president of Kosovo. The meeting will open on September 21 with the Clinton Global Citizen Awards, the organization stated.
  • Collaboration and turning ideas into action are core to the ethos of the Clinton Global Initiative and the Clinton Foundation,” Chelsea Clinton told the Hollywood Reporter. “Hollywood, likewise, relies on collaboration to bring creative visions to life and has been an excellent partner to the foundation across a number of our efforts,” she added.
  • Leonardo DiCaprio, who has been praised by state senator John Kerry for his climate awareness work, recently voiced a short film called Carbon, which advocates the need for a carbon tax.
  • Former President Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, and Chelsea Clinton are all expected to attend the event held in Manhattan. The host will be NBC’s Seth Myers. President Barack Obama is also expected to attend. Actor Matt Damon and philanthropist Melinda Gates are also expected guests.
  • Some award presenters will be former Secretary of State Madeline Albright, actress Eva Longoria, and music producer Randy Jackson. The event will also include musical performances by The Roots, Jason Mraz, Aloe Blacc, and more.
