How to make a flu-fighting turmeric ginger milk

This flu-fighting turmeric ginger milk will instantly help you feel better if you are under the weather. It is warm and comforting.

This year’s flu season has been one of the worst, and it is still spreading. According to TIME:

Flu activity has increased throughout the United States as of the second week of January, the CDC said Friday. Ten influenza-related deaths in children were reported through the week ending on Jan. 13, bringing the total flu-related pediatric deaths to 30.

Turmeric is one of the most potent healing spices in the world. It is one the most researched plants in the world. There are so many reasons to eat turmeric. The medicinal properties of turmeric have been the subject of over 6000 peer-reviewed and published biomedical studies.

Turmeric is well known as an immune booster. Let’s take a look at the rest of the ingredients in this flu-fighting turmeric ginger milk.

Black pepper:
It is crucial because it helps the body absorb turmeric more efficiently.

Raw honey:
Honey is well known as a potent cough reliever. A 2007 study showed that honey helps relieve coughs and trouble sleeping.  A single dose of buckwheat honey was just as effective as a single dose of dextromethorphan in relieving nocturnal cough.

Ingredients:

1 tsp of turmeric
1 pinch of black pepper
1 tbsp of raw honey
1-inch piece of ginger
1 cup of almond milk or hemp milk

Directions:

• In a saucepan, add 1 cup of almond milk or hemp milk and the ginger.

• Bring to a light boil over medium heat.

• Once milk is boiling remove from heat and add turmeric and black pepper.

• Let the turmeric steep for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.

• Pour into a cup, add raw honey to taste, and enjoy!
