  • Let’s take a look at five foods that can help with de-bloating:
  • Bananas:
  • Bloating does not always occur because of gas. It is sometimes related to high levels of sodium in the diet. Sodium causes bloating by retaining water in the body. The potassium in bananas helps counteract the effects of sodium. Try eating a banana next time you are bloated from salty foods.
  • Cucumber:
  • They are natural diuretics, which means that they can increase urination. The high fiber and water content gives cucumbers their natural diuretic properties.
  • Papaya:
  • Raw papaya contains a substance called papain, which has the effects of a mild laxative and helps bowel movements. Eating a few slices may helps relieve bloating.( Make sure they are organic).
  • Tea:
  • A study from the University of Adelaide’s Nerve-Gut Research Laboratory found that peppermint might help with bloating. The study states, “Peppermint activates an “anti-pain” channel in the colon, soothing inflammatory pain in the gastrointestinal tract.” Try a cup of peppermint tea next time bloating occurs.
  • Yogurt:
  • To fight bloating, you must look for a yogurt with active cultures. Eating yogurt increases good bacteria such as lactobacillus and bifidobacterium, which aid in digestion and prevent bloating. If you want a sweet touch in your yogurt, add fresh fruit rather than buying flavored ones.
  • Bloating happens occasionally to everybody, but if your bloating symptoms become long lasting, it may be a symptom of a serious underlying condition. Please consult your health practitioner or a qualified expert if bloating is persistent.
