DIY whitening solution

  • Take a healthy step and use lemon, white vinegar and baking soda as your natural disinfectants of choice.
  • Make your own solution: You will save a lot of money and reduce chemical exposure for you and your loved ones.
  • For cleaning hard surfaces:
  • Solution #1:
  • Mix :
  • 1 cup of white vinegar
  • 2 cups of  water
  • 1/3 of cup of organic lemon juice
  • Solution #2:
  • Mix:
  • 1 cup of white vinegar
  • 2 tbsp of baking soda
  • Scrub away: You will get a germ-busting disinfectant to whiten your porcelain sinks, bathtub, shower and toilets. Your white porcelain will sparkle!
  • Note: You can also use  solution #1 and #2 for your grout. Just apply with a toothbrush and scrub the grout. Leave on for 1 hour and rinse.
  • Use a dye-free, non scratch scrub sponge instead of paper towels and you will have taken a giant green step today!
  • For your white laundry:
  • Mix:
  • 1/2 cup of lemon juice
  • 1 cup baking soda
  • Pour the solution in a container to spot treat (white clothes only) or just add straight to laundry if pre-soaking.
  • You just have to shake it before you use each time.
  • Warning: Do not use on porous surfaces, use on white clothes only when adding lemon.

  1. I truly appreciate the tips.

Would it make a difference if we substitute the lemon (I assume it is lemon straight from the tree) with bottled lemon juice?
