Are tea polyphenols the new anti aging weapons?

Tea polyphenols in Skincare are being very popular these days.

To get the scoop we talked to our skincare Expert Mira Aguirre.

Plant polyphenols have promising medical applications to treat and prevent disease but tea polyphenols in particular are promising for their antioxidant, anti inflammatory, and regulatory functions for our skin too!

Green tea is the most popular and has been shown to neutralize free radicals and protect the skin from the aging and cancer related side effects from UV exposure. But it’s not the only form of tea with benefits, Rooibos is another tea with very similar skin benefits.

Antioxidants work synergistically together, meaning they protect us even better when combined vs used alone. Water soluble, fat soluble, and enzymatic antioxidants all protect us differently and the polyphenols in plants are so promising because they’re compounds with a wide array of different antioxidant constituents. In green tea for example, you’ve got many different catechins (tea polyphenols) as well as flavanols.

My two favorite skincare products featuring tea extracts are the Maysama Green Rooibos Pressed Serum and the Isntree Green Tea Fresh Toner. Wear them under sunscreen to protect your skin or apply before red light therapy to get faster results.

You can get 10% off for the Maysama Green Rooibos serum using code Mira10.
